Cost of Services, Move Details & Payments

Quotes & Pricing

• Official quotes with all-inclusive pricing are sent via email by an Avant-Garde Moving & Storage representative.
• Quotes are valid for 24 hours - after that, pricing may change due to availability and moving date rates.
• Moving rates vary by date based on truck availability and schedule.

Deposits & Payments

• A 10% deposit (minimum $50) is required to secure your booking and will be applied to the total price.
• Deposits are paid through our secure online payment system using any valid debit/credit card.
• Deposits are refundable if the move is canceled at least 24 hours before the scheduled date.
• If rescheduling is required, deposits will be transferred to the new balance. You may reschedule up to 48 hours before the original date.
• The remaining balance is due 1 business day before the move, by 5 PM.
• We accept all major debit/credit cards, certified checks, money orders, and cash for final payment.
• Cash, certified checks, or money orders must be paid before the movers start working.

Moving Day Procedures

• The foreman will conduct a walkthrough with the customer to ensure all agreed-upon services are accurate.
• The customer must sign a Bill of Lading (BOL) before the job begins.
• Upon completion, a final walkthrough will be conducted at the new location before signing the job completion contract.

Arrival & Scheduling

• Avant-Garde Moving & Storage will accommodate building time restrictions but is not responsible for delays caused by unforeseen moving challenges.
• We are not responsible for road conditions or traffic delays.
• The arrival window provided is when the crew is expected to show up at the pickup location.
• Customers can request a guaranteed pickup time for an additional fee.
• Time is not a pricing factor for our moves; we offer all-inclusive rates.

Gratuity

• Tips are not included in the price.
• Industry standard for good service is 20% of the total bill.

What Our Price Includes & Potential Additional Charges

Included in Price

• Taxes are included in the quoted price.
• Fuel, mileage, zone, and toll fees are included if the correct addresses are provided.
• Parking tickets, muni-meters, and similar fees are covered by Avant-Garde Moving & Storage.

Potential Additional Charges

• Parking permits for locations such as Hoboken, NJ must be arranged by the customer.
• If additional services/items are added on the moving day, pricing will be adjusted accordingly.
• The moving crew will not move additional items or perform extra services until additional balance payments are cleared.
• If additional packing is required beyond the agreed inventory, packing fees will apply.
• Stair Fees apply if a move involves flights of stairs not disclosed during booking.
• If the truck must park more than 150 feet from the building entrance, a long-carry fee may apply.
• Waiting time fees apply if delays are caused by the customer or building management.

Furniture Handling, Packing & Unpacking

Standard Furniture Handling

• Includes basic disassembly/reassembly for items with fewer than 10 screws.
• Specialized handling may require additional fees.

Special Handling Items

• Includes storage bed frames, glass furniture, china cabinets, pianos, fine art, marble tables, gym equipment, pool tables, and large sofas.
• Avant-Garde reserves the right to refuse special handling requests that were not arranged at booking.

Packing Materials & Supplies

• Protective materials used during the move will be removed and returned to the truck.
• Any purchased materials will be left at the delivery location.
• Customers rent specialty packing materials (wardrobe boxes, TV boxes, picture boxes) during the move.
• Packing materials can be delivered up to 10 days before the move upon request.

Storage Service Terms

Storage Fees & Payments

• Monthly storage fees are based on the size of the move and may change if items differ from the original quote.
• Payment is accepted only via debit/credit card and will be charged monthly on the storage start date.

Storage Conditions & Access

• Climate-controlled storage ensures items remain protected.
• Items stay wrapped and labeled for easy identification.
• Storage move-outs must be scheduled with a company representative.
• Partial storage retrieval is available; specific items can be requested.

Late Payments & Non-Payment Policy

• Late payments may result in additional fees.
• If storage payments are overdue for 3 months, Avant-Garde reserves the right to auction or dispose of stored items to recover costs.
• Storage move-out services require all outstanding balances to be paid before scheduling.

Insurance, COI & Claims

Basic Insurance Coverage

• All moves include $0.60 per pound per article in basic coverage.
• Additional insurance can be purchased via Avant-Garde Moving & Storage or third-party providers like Baker International or MovingInsurance.com.

COI (Certificate of Insurance)

• Available upon request for buildings requiring proof of coverage.
• COI covers building property, not personal belongings.

Claims Process

• Claims must be submitted within 30 days after the move via email.
• The Avant-Garde feedback team will respond within 15 days.

Customer Responsibilities

Before the Move

• The customer (or an authorized representative) must be present at pickup and delivery locations.
• Power of attorney must be signed if a representative is overseeing the move.
• All furniture must be emptied unless packing services were booked.
• Electronics must be unplugged and wires packed before movers arrive.
• Large items with water (aquariums, barrels) must be emptied before transport.
• Boxes should be placed near the entrance when possible to speed up loading.

Packing Policy

• Customers packing their own items must use sturdy boxes.
• Avant-Garde is not responsible for damages to fragile self-packed items.
• Customers packing TVs in personal boxes assume responsibility for damages.

Long-Distance & Hourly Moves

Long-Distance Moves

• Three options: Consolidated (flexible delivery), Exclusive (guaranteed date), Express (fast delivery window).
• Consolidated moves may involve third-party carriers with 53ft trucks.
• If shuttle services are needed at delivery, a maximum $300 fee may apply.

Hourly Moves

• The requested hours must be specified at booking.
• Additional time beyond the quoted hours is billed at the agreed hourly rate.
• Payment for additional hours is required before job completion.

• Personal information (name, address, billing details) is stored securely.
