We are not a traditional moving company.
To properly represent Avant-Garde, it is important to understand that we are not trying to operate as a traditional moving company.
That means looking beyond simply picking up furniture at one address and delivering it to another. We take responsibility for the entire physical side of a relocation: planning, packing, protection, transportation, storage, unpacking, placement, assembly, installation, and the many details in between.
Our clients come to us because they want one capable team that can manage the entire process from beginning to end.
Our goal is to provide concierge-level service within the moving industry.
For one client
that may mean carefully packing a two-bedroom apartment and moving it across Manhattan.
For another
it may mean packing an entire residence, creating custom protection for valuable furniture and artwork, placing everything into climate-controlled storage for several months, transporting the shipment across the country, and then unpacking, assembling, placing, and installing everything inside the new home.
For a gallery or collector
it may mean picking up a single valuable artwork, building the appropriate protection for it, transporting it, storing it, and ultimately delivering and installing it.
For an interior designer
it may mean coordinating furniture, artwork, storage, deliveries, placement, and installation across an entire project.
The scope changes.
The standard does not.
The goal is not simply: “Everything arrived.”
The goal is for the client to feel: “They took care of everything.”
Our Approach
Attention to detail is at the center of how we operate.
We believe that the quality of a move is determined long before the truck begins driving. It starts with understanding the project correctly.

For larger and more complicated projects, we do on-site or video estimates so that we can properly evaluate the scope before moving day. Our crews then arrive prepared with the appropriate equipment and materials for the project.
Furniture is protected according to the individual piece rather than treated as though everything requires the same wrapping method. Fragile and valuable items receive additional protection. Specialty pieces are evaluated individually.
The objective is always prevention rather than repair.
